The Working Cat...
is any cat that lives outside and has a caretaker. Their temperament can range from completely feral (never been touched by human hands with no social skills) to completely tame (very social and seeks out human contact). Most outside cats fall somewhere in between this spectrum. Cats typically do not choose to live outside, but through no fault of their own, this becomes their fate. These cats have value. They provide excellent rodent control, they are wanted, and in many cases they are loved by their caretakers.
Our Mission
The Working Cat Project seeks to educate the public about the plight of domesticated cats and the need to spay and neuter. We advocate for all cats, inside or outside, to be happy and healthy in the environment that suits them best and free from reproducing.
Our Servcies
We are focused on the health and wellbeing of all domesticated cats through TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return), spay and neuter services, rehabilitation, adoptions, and owner assistance services. Every cat is unique and comes with it's own set of circumstances. As a result, each cat is treated as an individual and the best outcome for each individual cat is provided to the best of our ability.

Saving Lives
Spaying and neutering is the key to ensuring all cats live the best lives possible under the conditions in which they live.
Caring for orphaned, abandoned, and feral kittens is a labor of love. These babies are fragile physically and emotionally. They require tremendous dedication and love.
Well socialized and adoptable cats and kittens fill our hearts with joy. They are worth every minute and dollar spent ensuring a successful outcome.
Adoptions
During winter months we have fewer cats and kittens available for adoption as we are busy with Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) before kitten season begins in the spring. Please feel free to contact us as our available cats and kittens can change daily. All cats and kittens come spayed or neutered, age appropriately vaccinated, dewormed, treated with flea/tick prevention, and feline aids and leukemia tested. Adoptable cats and kittens are posted on PetFinder.com and our Facebook page, facebook.com/theworkingcats.
Cat Facts, Myths and Misconceptions
Female cats will have an average of 3 litters in one season. They can become pregnant while still nursing. One female and her offspring can produce 2 million offspring in 8 years.
Cats are driven by their hormones. They are not easily controlled when they are not spayed and neutered. Inside cats will find a way to get outside and reproduce.
Spayed and neutered cats live happier, healthier lives. They make better pets. Outside cats will still hunt mice. Spaying and neutering helps prevent certain cancers later in life.
Cats are abandoned. The misconception that cats can survive on their own is false. They cannot. Cats are a domesticated animal that require human intervention to survive..
